TN State Red Angus Show & Jr. Show

Open Show Rules

  1. Only one attendant will be permitted with each animal in the individual class in all beef breeds while showing.
  2. If an exhibitor owns an animal in partnership with another breeder, that animal shall be considered part of the exhibitor's herd.
  3. No cattle for special exhibits (where no class(es) are offered) will be permitted except on specific written authorization from the Superintendent of Livestock.
  4. Tie-out time for beef cattle is 8:00 p.m.
  5. Exhibitors must comply with all applicable General Livestock Rules and Livestock Health Requirements set forth in this catalog.
  6. All animals entered will have at least one owner on record as a Regular or Junior Member of RAAA at time of show's published entry deadline.
  7. Be registered with RAAA and have Official Registered Status and meet all requirements for Category 1A or 1B at time of show's published entry deadline.
  8. Entries are accepted with the understanding that each exhibitor agrees to conform to the Rules and Regulations of the RAAA. Enforcement will be at the discretion of the RAAA authorized representatives and may include barring an animal or exhibitor.
  9. Exhibitors shall exhibit sportsmanship and professional behavior in and around the show ring. Abusive, discourteous, or threatening behavior towards judges, show officials, fellow exhibitors or RAAA authorized representatives will not be tolerated.
  10. All animals must have legible tattoos, which match the Animal ID and Herd Prefix as recorded in the RAAA database prior to processing.
  11. Each animal will be exhibited in its natural conformation and structure and without any alterations or modifications, with the exception of acceptable fitting and grooming practices.
  12. The use of coloring agents, paints, and/or the addition of any hair or hair-like substances will not be allowed.
  13. All bulls 9 months of age or older on publicized date of show must be shown with a nose lead.
  14. After processing, should the number of entries in any class exceed practically, authorized representative of the RAAA have the authority to "split" classes according to age and at the date of birth that best encourages fair competition.
  15. Any calf exhibited at the side of their dam in a cow/calf class may be exhibited in an individual class subject to all pertinent RAAA Show Rules and Classification.
Exhibitors' Right to Protest or Appeal
A. It is the explicit intent of the RAAA that RAAA sponsored show, the conformation and breeding value of animals being exhibited and the conduct of exhibitors present a positive image for the Red Angus breed. RAAA's Show Regulations and Classifications serve as the primary means to ensure competition is fair, unbiased and free of unethical conduct and practices.
B. The RAAA will play no role in the resolution of conflicts, appears, protest or complaints resulting from shows not sponsored by the RAAA.
Exhibitors must have official Registration Certificates or Incomplete Registration Certificates on all entries available for inspection by show officials.

Junior Show Rules

  1. The Junior Open Beef Show(s) will run simultaneously with the Open Breed Show(s).
  2. The animal entered in the Junior Show must also be entered in the Open Show.
  3. Only a 4-H, FFA or Junior Breed Association member may exhibit animals in this show. The junior exhibitor must show their own animal(s). If a junior exhibitor has more than one animal in any one class, the exhibitor can have another junior exhibitor show that second animal.
  4. This junior show will be governed by the National Breed and Junior Associations Rules and Regulations.
  5. All animals/embryos exhibited must have been recorded, registered or transferred in the exhibitor's name on or before August 10th of the current year.
  6. Cow/Calf Classes will not compete for the Grand and Reserve Grand Champion Female of the junior show.
  7. No exhibitor shall be permitted to win more than two prizes in any one class.
  8. Ribbons will be awarded for the first five placings. Rosettes will be awarded for the Grand and Reserve Grand Champion Female.
  9. All decisions by the beef department head regarding eligibility in the Junior Show(s) are final.
  10. A Junior "Bred by Exhibitor Champion Female" award will be selected after the selection of the Grand Champion Female.

Group Classes

54.Produce-of-Dam: Two animals by the same dam, either or both sexes, both shown in their respective class. Animals shown in this class need not be owned by the exhibitor
55.Senior Get-of-Sire: Four animals by the same sire, both sexes represented, need not be owned by the exhibitor. All animals must have been shown in their respective classes.
56.Junior Get-of-Sire: Three animals by the same sire, both sexes represented, need not be owned by the exhibitor. Entries must have been calved on or after Sept. 1 of last year. All animals must have been shown in their respective classes.
57.Premier Breeders Class: will be computed from breeder's placement in individual Classes only as follows: 3 points for each 1st; 2 points for each 2nd; 1 point for each 3rdl. Maximum number of placements to be used to determine winner shall be limited to 5. Calculated on breeders of animals regardless of exhibitor or owner, only in case of tie, the next highest individual Division placement will be used to determine the winner.
58.Premier Exhibitor Class: will be computed from exhibitor's placement in individual Classes only as follows: 3 points for each 1st; 2 points for each 2nd; 1 point for each 3rd. Maximum number of placements to be used to determine winner shall be limited to 5. In case of tie, the next highest individual Division placement will be used to determine the winner.

GENERAL RULES

  • There will only be room in the barn for cattle on the day they are to show. For any exceptions, please contact Quintin Smith (615)207-0830
  • Any breed that has 20 head or more pre-registered in the show will have a division for that breed.
  • Any breed not listed will show on Friday night.
  • Tennessee Health Requirements apply to all cattle.
  • Unruly animals may be excused from the show ring by the Judge or Show Chairman.
  • Show cattle should be on grounds three hours before show time.
  • Trucks and trailers shall park in designated areas after unloading. NO PARKING AROUND BARNS
  • All cattle must be registered with their respective breed association.
  • Livestock trailers should enter through the Tennessee Blvd. entrance.
  • Showmanship classes - Heifers Only.
  • TN Junior Shows and Junior Open Shows will run with the Open Show of each breed with the exception of Herefords
  • You can only show in one show -You may NOT show the same animal in more than one show. An animal may be shown in its breed, show as an AOB or commercial but not all three. ONLY ONE SHOW.
  • Animals must remain in barn or designated tie areas NOT on trailers unless Chairman grants permission.

*All Livestock Exhibitors and Drivers of Vehicles transporting livestock will be admitted FREE.

*An Exhibitor is defined as the person who attends the animal in the show ring.

*Announcements made the day of the show supersede all previous announcements.
