Entry Fee: $10 Online registration deadline August 14

* Substitutions will be allowed on the basis of animal entry per animal (please notify in advance if possible)

-Tennessee Health Requirements apply to all cattle.
-Unruly animals may be excused from the show ring by the Judge or Show Chairman
-Trucks and trailers shall park in designated areas after unloading.
-Livestock trailers should enter through the Tennessee Blvd. entrance.
-All bulls over 7 months of age must be shown with nose lead.
-Announcements made the day of the show supersede all previous announcements.

Grand Champions - $50 & Reserve Champions $25 (From Wilson County Fair)

GENERAL RULES

  • There will only be room in the barn for cattle on the day they are to show. For any exceptions, please contact Quintin Smith (615)207-0830
  • Any breed that has 20 head or more pre-registered in the show will have a division for that breed.
  • Any breed not listed will show on Friday night.
  • Tennessee Health Requirements apply to all cattle.
  • Unruly animals may be excused from the show ring by the Judge or Show Chairman.
  • Show cattle should be on grounds three hours before show time.
  • Trucks and trailers shall park in designated areas after unloading. NO PARKING AROUND BARNS
  • All cattle must be registered with their respective breed association.
  • Livestock trailers should enter through the Tennessee Blvd. entrance.
  • Showmanship classes - Heifers Only. You can only show in one Showmanship.
  • TN Junior Shows and Junior Open Shows will run with the Open Show of each breed with the exception of Herefords
  • You can only show in one show -You may NOT show the same animal in more than one show. An animal may be shown in its breed, show as an AOB or commercial but not all three. ONLY ONE SHOW.
  • Animals must remain in barn or designated tie areas NOT on trailers unless Chairman grants permission.

Open Show Rules

  1. Only one attendant will be permitted with each animal in the individual class in all beef breeds while showing.
  2. If an exhibitor owns an animal in partnership with another breeder, that animal shall be considered part of the exhibitor's herd.
  3. No cattle for special exhibits (where no class(es) are offered) will be permitted except on specific written authorization from the Superintendent of Livestock.
  4. Exhibitors must comply with all applicable General Livestock Rules and Livestock Health Requirements set forth in this catalog.
  5. Exhibitors in Hereford classes are subject to the Association's special rule on class qualification, any animal without a legible tattoo will not be eligible for show. All Hereford animals must be officially recorded at show time to be eligible to show. Entries with registrations "Pending" or "Applied for" will be ineligible to show.
  6. All Polled Hereford/Hereford entries must be registered in the American Hereford Assoc. All entries are subject to provisions and rules for showing as set forth by the Board of Directors of the American Hereford Association, and are subject to supervision of the show-Sale Committee representing the AHA.
  7. If there are more than 20 animals in a class, the AHA show committee recommends that the class be split.
  8. Cattle MUST be entered and exhibited under the recorded ownership at the time of the show's entry deadline date. Jointly owned animals must be entered as shown under the multi-ownership (all co-owners) in the individual class.
  9. Common ownership of all four animals in the Get-of-Sire Classes is not required, but entry must be entered/exhibited in the name of only one herd, unless all four animals have the same joint ownership. A common or same ownership of all animals in the Best Six head entry is required.

Junior Show Rules

  1. The Junior Beef Show(s) will run simultaneously with the Tennessee Junior Show.
  2. The animal entered in the Junior Show must also be entered in the Open Show
  3. Only a 4-H, FFA or Junior Breed Association member may exhibit animals in this show. The junior exhibitor must show their own animal(s). If a junior exhibitor has more than one animal in any one class, the exhibitor can have another junior exhibitor show that second animal.
  4. This junior show will be governed by the National Breed and Junior Associations Rules and Regulations.
  5. All animals/embryos exhibited must have been recorded, registered or transferred in the exhibitor's name on or before August 10th of the current year.
  6. If there are more than 20 animals in a class, the AHA show committee recommends that the class be split.
  7. Cow/Calf Classes will not compete for the Grand and Reserve Grand Champion Female of the junior show.
  8. Ribbons will be awarded for the first five placings. Rosette's will be awarded for the Grand and Reserve Grand Champion Female.
  9. All decisions by the beef department head regarding eligibility in the Junior Show(s) are final.

Open & Junior Show

Female Classes:
Class 1. *Cow/Calf (any female older than the above ages with calf at side). Calf on the side of Cow/Calf pair MUST BE the cow's natural calf. Calf older than 270 days of age on the show date is not eligible to show in cow/calf class. In the cow/calf class, if the cow is horned and the calf polled then the pair will show in the horned cow/calf Class and if the cow is polled and the calf is horned then the pair will show in the polled cow/calf class. Calf is eligible for individual Classes but must be entered in the appropriate class. *Cow/Calf does not compete for overall champion female.

Class 3. Junior Heifer Calves, calved between Jan. 1 and Feb. 28, 2023
Class 4. Junior Heifer Calf Champion - chosen from 1st place winners in Cls 2 & 3
Class 5. Reserve Junior Heifer Calf Champion - chosen from 1st and 2nd place winners in Cls 2 & 3
Class 6. Senior Heifer Calves, calved Nov. 1 through Dec. 31, 2022
Class 7. Senior Heifer Calves, calved Aug. 1 through Oct. 31, 2022
Class 8. Senior Heifer Calf Champion-chosen from 1st place winners in Cls 6 & 7

Class 47. Get-of-Sire - four animals shown in above single entry classes with both sexes represented and all progeny of one sire. It is permissible to use either the cow or calf from a cow/calf pair for the Get of Sire. Get of Sire may be comprised of animals from one or more owners and of both horned and polled animals.
Class 48. Best Six Head - All animals must have been shown in their respective single entry classes and they must be owned by the exhibitor or by a member of his/her immediate family. A cow/calf will be considered as two head in the Best Six Head. Best Six Head may be comprised of both horned and polled animals.

Class 50. Premier Breeder *Banner*
*Awarded with the following point system: 1st place=5 points, 2nd=4 points, 3rd=3 points, 4th=2 points, and 5th=1 point. No points will be given for champions. Points will be awarded for the Best Six Head for Premier Exhibitor and Premier Breeder. The same scoring system as above will be used for awarding points for the group classes.
