Cooking:  Noon – 3:00 p.m.

Judging:  3:15 p.m.

Public Sampling and Showmanship Judging:  3:15 – 6 p.m.

Winners Announced at 6:30 p.m.

Commercial Division - $25 PLUS ENTRY FEE
Amature - 1st - $12; 2nd - $10; 3rd - $5 PLUS ENTRY FEE

People's Choice will be awarded a Trophy

 Rules

1.       $10 entry fee for amateurs and $20 for Commercial Division.

2.       Contest limited to first 30 teams entered.

3.       Fresh or Home Canned ingredients cooked or prepared from scratch.  Use of commercially prepared, purchased spices is allowed.

4.       Commercial Division entry is considered a restaurant or business that sells or serves Salsa on a regular daily basis.

5.       Salsa MUST be prepared on site.  NO EXCEPTIONS.  It is recommended that vegetables and fruits be washed before cook-off time.

6.       Three (3) hours allotted to cook or prepare Salsa.

7.       Each team may enter only one (1) entry per category.

8.       Team must prepare one (1) quart for judging and at least two (2) gallons for “People’s Choice” entries.

9.       One (1) table and two (2) chairs will be provided per cooking team.  Ingredients and any other cooking utensils, equipment, awnings, etc. to be provided by contestants.

10.   A numbered “Judging Cup” will be provided to team for submissions.

11.   No glass allowed in cooking area.

12.   All food served to the public must be prepared and stored according to local health code regulations.

13.   Decision of Judges is final.

14.   People’s choice category to be awarded by ballot totals turned in by public after sampling the salsa entries. Chips will be provided to have consistent criteria for judging.

15.   Contest day announcements take precedence over any previously printed or published rules.
