This competition will take place at the Wilson County Fair. Upon decision at County Council, more information will be given. All entries must be worn by the fce member who made (Category 1-10) or purchased (Category 11) the item(s) unless otherwise stated in the guidelines.
CATEGORIES
Sewn Items:
- Suit or dressy ensemble
- Better dress (Sunday)
- Jacket, blazer or coat
- Casual wear (skirt and blouse; slacks and top; jumper, etc.)
- Active wear (jogging suit; swimwear, shorts and top, etc.)
- Children’s active or casual wear (dress; pants; shorts; tops; swimwear)
- Children’s better garments (dress, coat; boy’s coat; pants)
- Recycled garment (any type garment made utilizing a used garment or used materials)
- Wardrobe accessory (belt; tote bag; handbag; scarf; vest; hat; etc.)
- Decorative Sweat wear (sweatshirt; sweatshirt jacket, etc.)
Purchased Items:
11. My Best Fashion Purchase (a garment or outfit purchased economically at a department store, discount store, thrift shop, yard sale or consignment shop)
GUIDELINES
Sewing Skills
- The participant MUST be a TAFCE member in good standing
- The garment must have been made within the last year.
- The garment must be modeled by the person who made it. All work to be entirely that of the participant. Exception: children’s categories.
- The garments in the children’s categories must be made by a TAFCE member and modeled by a child not over 10 years old or may be modeled using a doll, teddy bear, etc.
- The judges are encouraged to use these criteria for judging:
- Construction
- Fit
- Suitability of fabric, using the 4-H score card
Buying Skills
- The participant MUST be a TAFCE member in good standing.
- The garment must have been purchased within the last year.
- The garment must be modeled by the person who purchased it.
- The judges are encouraged to use these criteria for judging:
- Construction
- Fit
- Suitability of fabric
- Quality of fabric, using 4-H score card, where applicable.
